My Position

  • This issue is already settled and further debate is not necessary
  • The government should not be telling people how to live their lives
  • People should be free to pursue happiness in their own way
  • Continue the fight against ALL forms of discrimination

My Thoughts

Why are we talking about this?

I’m not clear why this is an issue. The Supreme Court has made a decision, and that is now the law of the land. Sure, some argument can be made about the action the Supreme Court took, but the end result would have been the same. The majority of Americans support gay rights, and rightfully so.

That said, gay marriage means more families. More families mean more adoptions. More adoptions mean less homeless pets. Simple. Easy. Practical.

The government should not tell us how to live

My human can be pretty bossy, but in the end, I know he has my best interests at heart. Like my human, the government can be very bossy with all of its rules and regulations, but I don’t always feel it has my best interest in mind. Why should the government tell me how to live my life? The answer is, it shouldn’t.

This issue highlights one of the biggest hypocrisies of the Republican party, one they must overcome to move forward. Republicans say they do not want government intervention in our lives, they want smaller government more focused on protecting the people, yet they are the first to declare that the government should intervene in the personal lives of LGBTQ individuals to prevent them marrying. There is no other way to describe this activity than blatant discrimination on the part of Republicans. Wake up, grab the banner of smaller government and more personal freedom, and lets move forward!

I strongly believe in less government intervention in our lives, and that includes in our sexual choices.

We should be free to pursue happiness

The idea that we should be free to pursue happiness sounds like it came from an important document, like the Declaration of Independence. Happiness comes in many forms, such as a juicy steak, a squeaky chew toy, or a good game of hide-and-seek. The ultimate happiness in our lives comes from our intimate relationships. Why would we deny happiness to anyone? If anything, we should be more focused on bringing happiness to others. Gays should be free to pursue happiness in any way they choose, including marriage.

As a dog, one of my favorite pastimes is humping (I am sure this is true for many of you humans also). I will try to hump anything that lets me, big dogs, small dogs, girl dogs, boy dogs, it doesn’t matter, it is all good fun. You are free. Go have some fun of your own.

My Plan

  1. Do nothing (this issue is already resolved)
  2. Recognize blatant discrimination and speak out against it
  3. Support the LGBTQ community and their right to marry
  4. Continue the fight against ALL forms of discrimination
